            Before I start my reflection about the video clip of Guy Kawasaki entitled “Guy Kawasaki: Make meaning in your company”, let’s start of knowing who Guy Kawasaki is? Guy Kawasaki was born in Honulolo, Hawaii, where he attended his studies in Iolani School. He graduated with Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Stanford University in 1976. After that he graduated in Stanford University, he went to a law school but he only lasted a week and he realize that he hated law school. In 1977, he enrolled in the UCLA Anderson School of Management, after that he receives his MBA. In 1983, he got a job in Apple Computers through his Stanford Roommate, Mike Boich. He works there as a chief evangelist for four years. In 1987, he was hired to lead ACIUS, the US subsidiary of ACI. He ran ACIUS for two years and then left to pursue his bliss of writing, speaking, and consulting. He has written for Macuser, Macworld, and Forbes. And he calls these the “Wonder Years” as in “He wonders how he came to deserve such a good life.” In 1989, he started another software company called Fog City Software with three of the best co-founders in the world: Will Mayall, Kathryn Henkens, and Jud Spencer. They created an email product called Emailer which they sold to Claris and then a list server product called LetterRip. In 1995, he returned to Apple as an ordinary Apple employee. At the time, according to the pundits, Apple was supposed to die. (Apple should have died about ten times in the past twenty years according to the pundits.) My job on this tour of duty was to maintain and rejuvenate the Macintosh cult.

A couple years later, he left Apple to start an angel investor matchmaking service called Garage.com with Craig Johnson of Venture Law Group and Rich Karlgaard of Forbes. Version 2.0 of Garage.com was an investment bank for helping entrepreneurs raise money from venture capitalists. Today, version 3.0 of Garage.com is called Garage Technology Ventures; it is a venture capital firm and makes direct investments in early-stage technology companies. Currently, he is a founding partner at Garage and co-founder of Alltop as well as a husband, father, author, speaker, and hockey addict.

And currently, he is continuing to make video clips to help other entrepreneurs to start their own business and make it grow in the market like what he did for Apple Computers when it faces difficult situations.

            In this video clip he stated of how to make meaning in your company because it is the true essence of entrepreneurship. He stated that there are 3 ways to make meaning in your company:

            • Increase the quality of life.

            • Right a wrong.

            • Prevent the end of something wrong.

            Let’s start in the first way to make meaning the Increase of quality of life, like what he said in his video clip they are not motivated of making money by the Apple but they are motivated of by changing the world to make people more creative and more productive and that is why they are trying to increase the quality of their lives and that is a very good motivation in facing very difficult periods and can think positively of how they can change people’s lives along our daily activities. As an entrepreneur you should always think the best for your consumers so that they will not go after the other producers or the other entrepreneurs that were your competitors. You shouldn’t think about the money but you should think about how you could improve your skills to gain experience because money will voluntarily come to you when you are suitable as you are managing or starting your company.

            And the second way to make meaning is to right a wrong, that if there is a problem you should fix that particularly in business that you are making profits in your business and you are trying to maintain the good and stability of your business. You should right the mistakes that you have committed so that you can maintain and stabilize your company because in this world you are not the only entrepreneur that making profits but this is a competition that anyone can join. You should try to think before doing the decision that you might do because maybe that decision is a crime that can put you into the downside and that might be the cause of not making profits but instead you are losing all the efforts and sacrifices to make your company grow.

            And last is to prevent the end of something good, which means that when you do a thing that can give a good benefit to your company then keep it up and make your company grow and compete to your competitors. But if you have done a thing that can give to your company a bad benefit then think a solution that can end to that thing. In business, decision making is a very crucial thing because once you decide your company will depend on that decision and the result of that decision will become the status of your company.

            He said that these 3 ways to make meaning are the keys to start a good and productive company, school, churches or other kinds of organizations that you want to make. And in this video clip, I have learn that you can make money easily if you are motivated to you work. And with these 3 ways to make meaning in your company, I could become a good entrepreneur and can grow my own business in the market. By just following these 3 ways I can avoid mistakes in terms of deciding strategies that will help my company to stay competing to the other companies in the market and maintain to make profits and not to make losing my company. And thanks to Guy Kawasaki, many people especially the aspiring businessmen have a guide of how to make meaning their company.

                Last July 23, 2012, our very own His Excellency Benigno S. Aquino III delivers his third State of the Nation Address in the Session Hall of the House of the Representatives, Batasan Pambansa Complex, Quezon City. The president states many accomplishments and to be accomplished along his term as president and some these are related to ICT that can improve the quality of life.

                First is the newly built website that is called Project Noah, this project is made to aware the Filipino citizens when there are natural calamities that will strike in different areas in the country. With this website, it can inform the details that are necessary so that people will become aware when it strikes in their certain areas.

                Another is the program for the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) that is being called AFP Modernization Program. This program guarantees that the technologies that are being used by the AFP will improve so it can strengthen our defenses. The president says that there are equipments arriving soon, before the year ends there are 21 refurbished UH – 1H helicopters, 4 combat utility helicopter, radios and other communication equipment, rifles, mortars, mobile diagnostic laboratories, and station bullet assemblies. And when 2013 comes, 10 attack helicopters, 2 naval helicopters, 2 light aircraft, 1 frigate, and air force protection equipment will also be coming.

                Last is the program of TESDA which is called Specialist Technopreneurship Program imagine that from 5,240 certified Specialistas are earning 562 pesos a day and earning 11,240 a month that is higher than the minimum wage.

Assignment 3: Alternative Mindset and Concept of Job Creation

            When we were born in this world, our parents have already an obligation to make their children’s life better. They have the responsibility to mold their children to become a good example to everybody. That their children can make them proud and that they can let everybody that they have a talented son/daughter that exist in this world. To make that came true, one of their responsibilities is to make their children literate that’s why they send their children to school to give them education. Because we all know that education is the key to achieve our own goals that we can tell ourselves that we meet success.

            As Albert Einstein says, “Education is a process of wasting half of our life to learn how to waste the remaining half of our life.” With this quote we can relate it to our own lives, because when we were in the right age, maybe when we reach the age of 3, our parents are sending us to school and study the basics of life. We study in pre-schools then later we go to elementary and graduate to high school. But many of the youth in this country cannot make it to study in college because of financial crisis, so few of the high school graduates can make it to study in college and the other students are looking for a job that they think that is very suitable for him so that they can support to their family needs. So, the students that have studied in college have many options that they can use as an advantage to find a job after they graduate in the college. And they can choose if what kind of job they may have that they think is very suitable for him. And with the advantages that they think they may have, they use it so that they can make their own goals in their life.

            Goals can be achieve by everyone, but if a person has a characteristic of being a tardy person maybe it can be impossible to achieve it. As one of the citizen in this country, we have the freedom to do whatever we want to do that is not against the law. With this example we relate it to our goals that we have the freedom to set our own goals whether it is possible or not as long we think that we can achieve that certain goal in the right time. We can think whatever we want because of the freedom of expression that the constitution gave upon us. You can think that you can manage a certain group of companies if you think that you have a characteristic of being a good leader in the community. You can also think that you can become a good entrepreneur if you think that you have the potential of being a very good decision – maker and can lead to your own success in life. With these examples given, you may have a very good mindset that everybody wants.

            Last July 16, 2012 we have discussed the alternative mindsets that everyone may have if they know how they decide and plan of how they life may become. Our professor discussed that there are two types of mindsets: the common mindset and the alternative mindset. Let’s discuss first the common mindset, in this mindset we only limit ourselves into the common thinking that everybody can reason out about the feelings that they may have. This mindset only covers up the very common objectives that students usually think, like, “Going to school, have good grades, and find a very good job that suits to them.” And this is also the common mindset that our parents think and the reason why they sent us to schools. With these kind of mindset, the workforce that we can obtain will degrade because the newly graduates will find a better jobs in the places that offers a very big salaries. That’s why our best of the best graduates are not working here in Davao City because they are being recruited in the cities that offer a high pays for the jobs they work. We are only made the producer of the best graduates but we did not have the graduates that can work to this city and works for the improvement of the city that they work for. In this kind of mindset, the schools that the students graduate think that this is very beneficial for the school because it can lead to the dignity of the school. It can make the school become a very popular school that everybody think that the school can make a student to become the best of the best. But this mindset can make the city worse, because of the fact that the best graduates migrate to different cities to find a high – paying job and the city will be left by many average graduates that are unfortunate because of the fact that many of them cannot make the qualifications of the certain company that the city have.

            But there is a solution in this kind of mindset that we called the alternative mindset, which is every student thinks that the problems that they face may have a better solution, like, “Going to school, get good grades, and make your own company.” And this mindset is what we call the mindsets of the entrepreneurs that deal with technology or what we called technopreneurs. This mindset will enhance your skills, core values, creativity and even your passion to become a very successful businessman in the near future. This kind of mindset is the product of combining the creativity, innovation, and the visions that technopreneurs may have. With your own skills you can create the alternative mindset and make your own company so that you can help many students that cannot have better jobs. And if you have the confidence of managing a very good company you should have to become a good technopreneur.

Job creation on technopreneurship call attention to acquire manpower in order to work out possible innovation in technologies. The function of technopreneurship in the society and economy is vital because through technology, there will be possible jobs created and employment giving a chance to those who are jobless in the society may obtain for it. These jobs created in the field of technology will not only literally give job but also improve and discovers skills and talents of each individual related for technology. With this it will also be a bridge and channel to have an exchange of thoughts and strategies to improve not only our own lives but put in greatly to society and economic permanence of the city also to the country.

            Technopreneurship is covered by the SEED program or the Self – mastery, Environment Mastery, Enterprise Mastery, and Development of Business Plan. With this kind of program the student can enhance their own skills that can lead to a better entrepreneur. So let’s discuss the meaning of the SEED program one by one. First, is the Self – mastery, you should have the knowledge of knowing your own self so that you can estimate the advantage and the disadvantages that you may have and with that kind of situation you can manage to make a solution to avoid the fade away the success that you obtain. You should know the psychological facts that you have, like taking intellectual test (IQ), emotional test (EQ), and adversity test (AQ), so that you can learn your own limits. Taking intellectual test can make you aware of the capacity of your own thinking of the ideas that you may share in your company. Taking emotional test can measure your capacity to handle different situations that would happen in the ways of making your own success, and so on.

            Then Environment Mastery, this will covers the person for looking good opportunities around the environment that you belong. This will help you master how to handle a problem in a crucial situation that your idea is being needed to solve the problem as soon as possible. Serendipity walks often helps the person think many ideas while he was walking alone and suddenly can have a good idea that could help the company. This kind of mastery can make a person look for a better solution that the environment needs, innovations usually become the source of strength that a technopreneur may need to develop this skill so that when the problem comes by you can face it without fear.

            Then Enterprise Mastery, this will help develop the person’s skill how to handle the different problems that your company may face. This will help the person to engulf the weight of the problem may be. This will help the person to become competitive in the world of business. To make decisions about sales and marketing, promotion of the products that they are producing and give the company a very good profit. Innovations will also become the strength of the technopreneur that will develop this kind of aspect because it will test the person’s point of view in terms of how wide it can be. It can take the technopreneur to choose how to risk the different solution in their problems. With this mastery, we can measure how wide is the thinking capacity of the technopreneur to handle the functions of becoming a manager for the marketing, of making the financials of the company become efficient and making the plans for the company’s development.

            Lastly is Development for Business Plan, this is what the three masteries will combine. This will measure the technopreneur to make a better and suitable business plan for the company. This is to summarize the different skills that you have develop with the three masteries that had been discussed, the Self – mastery, the Enviroment Mastery, and the Enterprise Mastery.

Let me share the result of my Emotional Quotient (EQ) test and according to this website I have an above average score on emotional intelligence. They state the meaning of the score that I had gain that people with an above score on emotional intelligence tend to be good at interpreting, understanding, and acting upon emotions. They are usually quite good at dealing with social or emotional conflicts, expressing their feelings, and dealing with emotional situations.

Let me share the result of my Adversity Quotient (AQ) test and according to this website the result of my AQ test is that I have a moderate adversity quotient because I scored 26 and base on their analysis the range of the person that has a moderate adversity quotient is from 19 – 31 so that’s why I obtain a moderate adversity quotient that indicates that I deals with adversity fairly well, however my performance can be enhanced with a higher AQ.

Assigment 2: 3 IDIOTS

After watching the movie “3 IDIOTS”, your reflections of the 3 characters, which one would you choose?

            Motivation is a driving force by which humans achieve their goals. This has much to do with desires and ambitions, if these are absent, motivation is absent too. Motivation strengthens the ambition, increases initiative and gives direction, courage, energy and the perspective to follow one goal. A motivated person takes action and does whatever it needs to achieve his/her goal. Motivation is one of the important keys to succeed in life’s dream. When there is a lack of motivation you either get no result whereas when there is motivation you will attain greater and better results and achievements.

            We are all after for success in life, to achieve what we dreamed to become in the future. The movie “3 Idiots” I guess is the best example for life’s success – for motivation. Life is unfair, isn’t it? Challenges, trials, obstacles are all synonymous terms that we are dealing as we are chasing for success. “Life is a race…. if you don’t run fast you will be like a broken anda” – this is the line from Professor Viru in 3 Idiots. Indeed it was true! As we run on the track we cannot avoid to stumble and fall down, race in not yet over, stand-up – fight to finish! But we all know failure never come only once; it is repeated not just twice but many times. As the song goes – “Give me some sunshine, Give me some rain. Give me another chance; I wanna grow-up once again.” – Chances will be given to those who are with patience, courage and desires, if you have that, sunshine and rain will come after you.

            This movie is the most inspiring movie that I’ve watched the best example of a movie that exerts motivation to every student who is striving hard to reach their goals in life and even though I watched it many times still I am not tired of watching the scenes of the movie. Because this movie brought many meanings that every person can relate to the actual activities that we are doing every day.

            After watching the movie, there are many reactions that I had made. There are many emotions that have been spilled out throughout the end of the movie because there are scenes in the movie that I laugh out loud and there are parts that I am crying because of a very dramatic concept that the audience can relate because of the practicality that we can encounter in our daily activities. The movie itself is talking about how students handle the different challenges and difficulties that they will face when the hard part comes upon your study especially when you are studying in a school that has very standard of teaching that are known to be aa – school for the best and competitive graduates.

            The story of the movie is about the three engineering freshmen that have given the chance to study in a famous school of engineering in India. These three engineering freshmen are Ranchoddas Shamaldas “Rancho” Chanchad, Raju Rashtogi, Farhan Qureshi; and these three engineering students first met because they share the same room in the residence of Imperial College of Engineering. The same as the students that have passed to study in the Imperial College of Engineering, they have also a purpose of why did they study in Imperial College of Engineering. Farhan chose engineering because of his father’s wish so that he can support his family needs while his ambition is opposite to his father wants – he wants to become a wild photographer, to capture the beauty of animals’ life and on how they dwell with the great and perfect touch of creation of God- the Nature. Raju on the other hand wants to graduate to the Imperial College of Engineering so that he can help his family to escape from poverty. And Rancho studies in the Imperial College of Engineering because of his simple passion in machines and devices.

            If I have the opportunity to choose which character I would like, I would choose Rancho because of his passion in life to help people when they need a person to rely on. He is a happy person that any individual could not tell if he has a problem or none. Rancho believes that success in engineering is not achieved by memorizing definitions given by instruments that records, analyze, summarize, organize, debate and explain information; that are illustrated, non- illustrated, hard bound paperback, jacketed, non-jacketed with foreword, introduction, table of contents, index, that are intended for enlightenment, understanding, enrichment, enhancement and education of the human brain through the sensory route of vision, sometimes touch- “textbooks” or professor, but by understanding it and applying the concepts that he has acquired from what they have took up. Like the one scene in the movie when Chatur “Silencer” Ramalingan delivered a speech to introduce their guest in a certain event in their school, Rancho and Farhan change the speech to a little bit nasty speech. Chatur is known as a student that is very good in memorizing every detail that the textbooks have written and he didn’t even understand the meaning of those words that he commits to his memory. So when Chatur delivered the speech, he wondered why the guest and Professor Viru got mad to him.

            There are many good characteristics that Rancho had. He is very helpful person, he is a very caring person, he is a very loving person, and he is a very intelligent person. Many adores Rancho even his friends Farhan and Raju because he has an exquisite talent that only him can have. 

            He is also a very helpful person and I think this is his main characteristic. He is willing to help people as long as he can. There are many scenes in the movie that shows how helpful he is to the people around him. Like when he saw that certain student, Joy Lobo who wants to become a successful engineer and seeing that what he builds was only rejected by Professor who’s always been so terrible to engineering students- Professor Viru and only went to trash, it made him so intimidated and totally down. And when he didn’t see the student in sight he silently pick up the device that the student invented and he innovate it. But when he was going to show it to the student, it was already late, he gave up his own life. That was dreadful!

            He helps also the father of Raju to go to hospital because when Pia said that the father of Raju is in critical condition and it will be too late if they will call an ambulance. So, Rancho made a decision and used the scooter of Pia to deliver the father of Raju to the hospital. And even though there is an exam that will be conducted in the next day, he stays in the hospital and sympathized to the father of Raju until they know that the father of Raju is okay.

            He is very caring person because he has the characteristic that he didn’t want to see his friends to suffer. Like one of the scenes in the movie when Raju is being hospitalized because of jump from the office of the director of the Imperial College of Engineering, Professor Viru that is very high from the ground level, he was the one who help to deliver Raju to the hospital. He was with him everyday. He did what are the possible cures so that Raju will wake up from a coma condition. Until the day comes when Raju wakes up because he lied and said that Farhan will marry the sister of Raju without any dowry because that is the dream of Raju to his sister so that she will be gone in poverty.

            He also helps his friend Raju when Professor Viru gave him a special examination so that Raju will not be rusticated in the Imperial College of Engineering. He tried to communicate to Pia (the daughter of Professor), so that he can have the copy of the examination that Professor Viru will give. When Pia gave the key to the office of the director he search it and gave to Raju, but Raju didn’t accept the copy of the question in the exam because he has confidence that he can pass the exam whether it is difficult or very difficult.

            Rancho also helps the daughter of Professor Viru even though Professor Viru is very angry to him. It is also the time when it has a flash flood in the Imperial College of Engineering and coincidentally the daughter of Professor Viru has a feeling that she was delivering her baby but they can’t go to the hospital because of the natural calamity. So, Rancho made a decision that he will gonna make a solution so that the baby will survive from the death. He communicates to the other daughter of Professor Viru, Pia because she was a doctor. Because of lack of materials, they become resourceful; they find a vacuum cleaner and a pressure regulator so that it will control the pressure that the vacuum cleaner exerts. Because of the technique that they use, the baby survives. Professor Viru was very in that day and he was very proud of Rancho and he gives the astronaut’s ballpen that he says that he will only give it to the right person that he was something to be proud of.

            He also helps Farhan to succeed his own ambition – to become a wildlife photographer. He passes all the photos that Farhan took to a person that Farhan idolized. He didn’t even ask the permission of Farhan to send all the photos to the famous wildlife photographer in Europe. Farhan was very glad to hear from Rancho that he was invited to go to Europe so that he can practice his skills to become a professional wildlife photographer. Even though Farhan passed all the examinations he withdraws his course so that he can achieve his dream and be with his favorite wildlife photographer.

            Rancho has also an optimistic personality, because he always thinks positively. He always encourages his friends that there are always solutions to their problems. He even helps them to solve a certain problem that they are facing ignoring the difficulty of the problems.

            He is also a goal – oriented person because despite of his own personality he always thinks that when finish his studies he can help other people. And he can think any solution so that he can achieve the goal that he wants.

            Rancho is also a very intelligent person; even you cannot tell that when you first saw him because of his personality didn’t fit to his looks. Your first impression maybe to Rancho is a very clever person, but when you start getting to know him better you can tell that he has a good personality. Rancho can improvise many things so that he can solve that problem that he faces. He is also a very humble person because he always stays on his ground even though he has the talent that can help many people to have a better living.

            And since he is an intelligent person, he was made to be a substitute for the real Ranchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad to go to the Imperial College of Engineering. His real name was Phunsukh Wangdu and he was only a servant of the family of Ranchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad. The real Rancho was sent by his father to London to hide his true identity until Phunsukh Wangdu will finish his studies in the Imperial College of Engineering. Phunsukh  Wangdu attains the highest grade from the other engineering students in the Imperial College of Engineering. The movie also says that when he was in his early age particularly in his sixth grade he was starting to learn other subjects that are being taught in higher levels and one of the faculty in his school was amazed when he was solving a numerical problem of the tenth grade.

            And when he finished his studies he immediately gone with the wind and he didn’t even say a word to his friends to say his goodbyes but he can’t because he can’t tell his friends that he is not the real Ranchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad and he can’t say that he was only a servant to the family of Ranchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad. And he go to the place that the people is very uncivilized that they didn’t even know what a technology was all about. He teaches the people in that place with Millimeter that assists to the student in the Imperial College of Engineering so that they will become aware to the technology that is being used of the city people.

            When Farhan and Raju was called by Chatur they immediately go to the Imperial College of Engineering, Farhan has cancelled his flight and Raju forgot his pants because he rush to get in the cab when Farhan wake up him with a phone call that says that Rancho is in the Imperial College of Engineering. But Rancho was not there because he was not actually there and Chatur only call Farhan and Raju because it is the when he promise that he will more popular that Rancho and he will overcome his intelligence.

            Farhan and Raju was very angry of what they know, but Chatur calm them down because he actually know where is Rancho actually is. But when they arrive there, they only caught the real Ranchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad and not the Rancho that they know. There, they confront the real Rancho and ask where is the Rancho that they know, the friend that they know. So, the real Rancho gives the address of Phunsukh Wangdu and said that he teaches the people that are being civilized there. They catch first Pia, who was the only woman that Phunsukh Wangdu loved. They reach her and coincidentally it is her wedding but they convince her to go with them to find the real Ranchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad that they know, Phunsukh Wangdu. And when they find Rancho they were very happy that they had seen him again after several years of not communicating to them. They were very pleased when they know that all his inventions were helping the people in their daily lives and help the people to work easier and faster using innovated inventions that are found in their surroundings.

             They were stunned when they know the real name of their friend. The one whom, Chatur was looking for, the very popular scientist that can make him to promote to the position that like in his company, Phunsukh Wangdu. Until the end they were very happy that they were all reunited even though how far they were with each other.

            Therefore, happiness will be the result of your sweat and blood sacrificed that backs to success. Happiness is one of the most sought – after goals in life. Sometimes we even tend to chase some things because we think that it can make us happy. To maintain a successful life and to achieve ultimate happiness always be thankful for what you have reached, share what you have to those who are empty handed. Make a healthy relationship with your friends and families, enemies will always a hindrance to your success. Above all praise and be glorifying the Lord God for what He has given you leads you to success. Because in God, Aal iiz well.

            Just always remember, if a certain goal is really important, you need motivation to keep you in the path of successful, just pursue excellence and success will follow.

1.)  What are the factors that contributed to the success and failures of Steve Jobs as a technopreneur?

There are many factors that affect to the success of Steve Jobs as a technopreneur:

Steve Jobs has a great knowledge because he had become a smart president of a company because he knows the best and worst for his company. He can see the future that can lead them to become successful in the world of computer industry. He has a knowledge in computers and in designing it to become more presentable in the public. He can show you the true example of what should be a good leader that could be through his own knowledge.

The other factor that Steve Jobs became a successful person is because of being a good speaker to the public. He can manipulate you so that you cannot say “no” to him. That’s why Steve Wozniak like him very much because when he finished his own computer Steve Jobs made it sold to the businessman even though he is not wearing a formal attire to attract his clients he made it to agree of what they had been discussed in the agreement.

Steve Jobs is very passionate of everything that he wants to do, he loves the way of what he is doing. Because in growing such a huge business like Apple Computers you should know how to love your job so that the job itself will love you back. Because in business you should know how to handle the bounded duty that is responsible in your hands to grow as a competitive to the other business that you are dealing with.

Steve Jobs thinks that nothing is impossible and always think that he can make history. He has the imagination that can create objects that no one can visualize. Like the one of the scene in the movie when he was in the state of being drugged that he imagine himself as being an orchestra conductor in the middle of the grass field that his friends have wondered if his is out of his mind and making his own world that nobody can see.

            Steve Jobs has a very high spiritual character that did not know what the word impossible means. He always thinks that he can surpass his enemies in business. He always sees the world as a very competitive industry. He always thinks that he can get the things that he wants even if there are obstacles that are blocking his way to achieve it.

Steve Jobs always thinks that he can overcome the things that he already accomplished and make a new one that have new features that everyone will like. He always thinks that a businessman can achieve his goals by innovating the things that he already done. In that way you can figure out the things that you would change and what would you don’t want to change.

On the other side of success there is always a failure accompanying it that can make you struggle and give you obstacles that will challenge you to overcome it and test if you are deserving of what you call success. And here are some factors that contributed to the failures of Steve Jobs as a technopreneur:

As a result of a challenging competition between computer companies, Steve Jobs abuses his own workers to make a unique design that can lead them at the top of the computer industry. He abuses his workers by slaving them for working 24/7 to make softwares. He is very strict that lead to the employees to quit including his own partner Steve Wozniak. He is acting like a remote control of a robot that his employees were the robots. In business, you should be nice to your workers so that your company will perform well or else your company will lead to bankruptcy. It also results to a dogfight of his employees and yet he divided it into two groups the Apple II team and the Macintosh team and it result with employees that were angry in him. And as a businessman you should be equal to your employees and do not try have favorites in dividing your employees into teams.

I think one of the failures of Steve Jobs is trusting a person that you only meet in a single day, like the way he trusted Bill Gates to have his computer Lisa. And as a result he was being overcome by Bill Gates for just knowledge of how the computer Lisa works and steals the idea of making a computer with a graphical user interface feature so that it can be a user – friendly computer. And Steve Jobs knew it he was so angry to Bill Gates that made them to a serious fight in the world of computer industry.

Steve Jobs’ denial on his illegitimate child leads to his failure because when he is being questioned or even if there are people who is trying to discuss about his daughter, he automatically become a hot – headed person and will turn his anger to his employees. Like the scene in the movie when her girlfriend wants him to accept the baby he denies it and very angry to her and always saying that it is not his child and when he enters to his building he accidentally go to the board room (I think) and meet the wannabe applicant for his company and turn his angry to that applicant, he embarrassed the applicant by questioning with non – sense questions and leave the room with the applicant that he recently embarrassed to the person who are currently performing the interview. As a businessman, you should set aside your personal problems when you work and when you have problems in your business you should leave the problems in your company before going to your home.

 Steve Jobs’ one failure is being judgmental, like the scene that is being showed in the movie when he arrive into the building from the party at the middle of the night and sees his employees (specifically the programmers) that didn’t finished the designs that are being assigned to them he easily judge the employees that they are not capable for the company because they cannot make a design in a specific time. And he didn’t know that his employees are working for a large amount of time without break and cannot think well because they are already stressed their bodies. As a president of your company, you should be aware of the health condition of your employees so that can work well.

2.) How do you see yourself as a technopreneur?

            For me technopreneurship is the combination of technology and entrepreneurship that means business through technology or by making a technology becomes a business that will lead you to make money in your own simple way.

            Technopreneur deals with innovating technologies so that it can be useful in business, they think of technology as a different way to help the industry grow faster and reliable. Technopreneurs are willing to take the challenges that they will face when it comes to their way along the road to success. They are not afraid of facing failures that will pull them from the road to success; instead they will only think that the failure that they had faced was a lesson to be learned and they can only learn it when they experienced it.

            The Pirates of Silicon Valley is a worth watching movie, because it gives you the idea of how an entrepreneur can make a technology becomes a business and makes you a successful businessman even though you didn’t have a chance to graduate a business – related course. In this field of business the only thing that you will do is to gain knowledge of the technologies that is recently being used and make some innovations so that people will be interested in your product, even though you are a Information Technology student, Computer Science student, Engineering student or any kind of student as long as you have a very wide imagination of how will technologies can be combined in entrepreneurship you can become a technopreneur.

            For me as a technopreneur, I can see myself as a competitive one because we all know that there are many technologies that are emerging recently in the market. So, I must be aware that being a technopreneur I must have plenty of ideas that will keep the business in a competition. I must have the entrepreneurial skills like Steve Jobs have, for example is the factor that contributes the success of Steve Jobs in terms of good speaking to the public. I must learn it so that when I am dealing with other people I can make them believe that all I say is true and make them convience that my products are very effective.

            Technology is the key to everyones success and you must become innovative so that you can reach that goal. Like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, Bill Gates made the lives of the people much easier by inventing a user – friendly operating system, the Windows, which has a Graphical User Interface. Steve Jobs that is known to the innovative one because he made the lives of the people more elegant, because of the gadgets that he introduced to us like the iPod. They are the two most well – known technopreneurs that successfully innovate the lives of the people because of their creative imagination. I always admire them because they make technopreneurship become famous in the economy.

            And I always think what would be the key factors to become a successful technopreneur?

            They must be a good entrepreneur, which has a clear vision of what a business would become if they face a problem. A person that has full of strategies so that they can avoid a failure and can make his/her company grows.

            A good entrepreneur must be a good listener that will be an open – minded person so that he can learn from other people ideas. Because you cannot learn all the information you want if nobody told you. Even Steve Jobs and Bill Gates have not learn all their knowledge by their own they copy and steal to other people’s ideas like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates say that there is a saying from a famous painter, Picasso, “Good Artist copy, Great Artist steal.”

            Entrepreneurs will not work as individuals; they always work by teams so that they can share ideas, discuss solutions for the problems, and decide the appropriate answer for their problems.

            Entrepreneurs should also set there on goals and objectives so that they have a reason to continue the competition with the other entrepreneurs.

            Entrepreneurs must have the knowledge of the strength and weakness of their business. They must identify it early so that they can prevent the weakness and balance it to the strength. They must be passionate in what they are doing, love their employees so that it won’t become a burden and will work efficiently.

            And with a little touch in technology and some connections you can easily become a good and competitive technopreneur in the industry.

            I think these factors will be my guide so that I can be a good technopreneur sooner or later and I can apply all those things when I started my own technology business so that it will go smoothly and firmly in the world of industry.

            And can also help other people who are trying to become successful in what they are dreaming. It would be the starting point so that you can be a good leader someday. And make a company grow with a larger buildings and can have other branches that can reach to the top of the industry that you belong.

            You can also be a successful entrepreneur when you didn’t limit your imagination in the four corners of the room and you should think with a wide creative mind and through an innovative way so that you can be a good and innovative businessman.

3.) Would you take the same career path that Steve Jobs took? Why or why not?

            If I am going to be ask if I am gonna take the same career path that Steve Jobs took then my answer would be yes if I have the same level of thinking capacity with Steve Jobs. It is not easy to become a second generation Steve Jobs. He has a very wide and yet a very creative imagination that anyone couldn’t be. But, if I have to be given a chance to make history I would like to become a second generation Steve Jobs that is not contended of what ideas do I have now and keep searching for new and creative ideas that can make people lives simpler. I would not stop finding solutions or methods that would help to solve the problems for my products or could help me create a new product that can help the company to go higher in the stock market.

            Many people appreciate what Steve Jobs made to develop the computer industry. What they didn’t know about Steve Jobs is how he treated his employees with an illiterate character trait of forcing employees to work at least 50 hours straight. He only cares the future of his company not the health of his co – workers. Jobs only accepts a perfect and creative work if don’t how what does it means then you are capable in his company. That’s why many co – workers of Steve Jobs are angry to him because of his bad attitude like his demanding a simple thing but the truth is it is complicated as it be. And that dark side of his career path is exempted to the career that I like in him.

            The good thing about Steve Jobs is that he has the courage to pursue his goals even though it is very impossible to achieve but he will do anything so that he can accomplish the one that he desires and make his own history. Like when he see that the invention that XEROX Computer Laboratory has the solution for his personal computer because it has a Graphical user Interface and with a corresponding device that is called mouse that when you click it you were there and when you click another you where somewhere else. At this point of view I see that business is such a clever ones because an entrepreneur must set strategies so that he can get what he wants to improve the product or improve your services to your costumers or most likely attract many investors to invest in your company.

            And by the knowledge that Steve Jobs’ owned and by being passionate in his work he became a very huge competitor for Bill Gates and his owned company, Microsoft.

            Being a technopreneur, Steve Jobs use his every knowledge of how would he compete and win to the other competitors; if he has given a chance of stealing the ideas of the others he is going grab the opportunity.

I can start with a small enterprise or just even work in some establishment that would make you save a little bit of money. In this way, if you can save a plenty of money you can start your own business that you would like. And don’t forget the lesson that you have learn in the story of Steve Jobs as a businessman and as an innovative man. And I should always keep in my mind that every business has a strength and weakness that could make you as a better entrepreneur. If I can face the failure along the business I should be strong enough to fight it and set into mind that every failure has a subsequent experience. And don’t forget the lesson that had been learned so that it will be my shield when I have faced the same failure again.

When you pass an obstacle in life it will become your advantage to face another challenges that you may encounter and will transform you as a greater person that have a lot of experiences that has been encountered in life.

It is the same when Steve Jobs faces all his challenges in life along with the success that he always keeps to maintain a good personality that he can be. So if someone will ask me if I would take the same career path of Steve Jobs then my answer is yes, because if I am worthy of having the success of being a technopreneur then I should be proud of myself for making my dream come true and making my goals being achieved. Because nothing is impossible to a person that always think positive and always striving hard to achieve their goals in life.
