Second Reflection (FTS): A Dream Come True

Good day everyone! I am here again to do some reflection for our subject for this semester, “Field Trips and Seminars”. This is our second reflection that has given by our professor for this subject, last time the reflection is about our decision of what should we choose from the three models for our field trip. And now our reflection is about our expectations for our first or next plane ride.
Since I was a child I’ve been longing to ride to an airplane and I always wondering what do I experienced when I will be riding in the airplane hundreds of feet above the ground. What do the things look like when you look from a window on a flying plane? This coming September 16, 2013 my will come true as we are leaving for our field trip that will be held on Manila. I am so excited for this coming event because this is my first time to ride an airplane on my 18 years of existence in my life. This my first time to enter an airport and I am so excited what do it looks like when enter there, I am also curious about the procedures when you are boarding to an airplane like when you are about to check-in and give your ticket to the attendant. And when you are passing through in there security like taking off the metals that you are wearing just like the belts, bracelets and other stuff that have metals. I also want to see what do it like when your baggage is passing through in their x-ray scanner, sounds lame but just ignore me because I am only curious about it. And when you are waiting in the departure area and watching the planes parking in their terminals, how big do it look like because when you see it flying above the skies it just like as big as your airplane toy.
I also want to experience the feeling when the plane is taking off because they say that it is an ear-deafening moment because of the pressure that will be entering in the holes of your ears due to the plane is ascending to hundreds of feet from the ground. They say that it is a weird experience when the plane is taking off because it runs in the runway very fast and will suddenly fly from ground that they say, “parang bubunutin ang iyong kaluluwa at maiiwan sa lupa”, sounds hilarious right? But that is what they say and I don’t know if it is true because it will be my first time. I also want to see what do it looks like when you look from the airplane and see the grounds below is it true that you will only see green because you are very far from the ground that other things will not be seen in it.
I expect for this flight that it will be fun and a memorable one as the plane traveling to our destination like sharing ones experiences when the plane is taking off and others are sharing they see below the ground. I expect that the stewardess will explain the dos and don’ts that we will obey as we are travelling in the air. They will inform us what to do when there are some unexpected scenes that will happen. I also expected that the foods that are being sold inside the plane are being doubled in terms of pricing, so I am planning not to buy some in the plane because I have no budget for that and the travel is almost 2 hours only and I am sure that I will be busy sightseeing to the sceneries from above.
But aside of being excited there are some worries that are struggling in my mind as days go nearer for this event. First, our flight will be so early in the morning the time of our flight is 5’o clock in the morning and we all know, mostly, the rules of the airplane companies you should check-in in the airport 2 hours before your flight and it will 3’o clock in the morning. Maybe I cannot sleep the night before the flight because of being excited for a dream come true. Second, I am worried because lately there are some news that are being aired that there are planes crashing due to some errors like pilot errors, engine failure or like the incident recently that happened here in Davao City International Airport that the lights in the runways suddenly turned off and the pilot did not know where do he lands the plane and that reason why the plane lands outside the runway and specifically it is a Cebu Pacific plane and that will be the plane that will be going to aboard when we go to Manila for our Field Trip. And I hope that this time the Cebu Pacific manage had fixed the troubles that they are encountering recently. And I hope that they studied very well the errors that their planes have been reported recently. Lastly, I am worried that when we arrive in Manila specifically in Ninoy Aquino International Airport by baggage will not be in the baggage tray, what if it was swapped when we are in Davao and being loaded to the other plane (wag na man sana.. :D).

But all the danger are always part of your life, and the only thing, is we do not know when do it will happen and only God knows when will it happen. So we must trust God that he will give us a safe and a memorable trip that we will always remember as part of being a student. This is not the first and last that I will be traveling in the air, perhaps when I graduate from the university I can travel through plane again. Traveling by land is fun but it is more fun to travel by air. May God bless our field trip.
